Leptaena sericea restricta was named by Hadding (1913). It is the type subspecies of Sericoidea.
It was recombined as Sowerbyella restricta by Hede (1951); it was recombined as Sericoidea restricta by Lindström (1953) and Candela (2011).

Dorsal interior with anterior end of the median septum extending for 30% of valve length; septule signature one ms + one sms; no septules developed laterally from the submedian septa; proximal row of septules developed at 60% of valve length with up to three irregular pairs of septules; extra septules developed anteromedially at 80% of valve length. |
