Taxonomy
Bimuria perrugata was named by Reed (1945). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Balclatchie Farm, Ayrshire, Girvan, which is in a Burrellian carbonate limestone in the Balclatchie Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Christiania perrugata by Williams (1962) and Candela and Harper (2014).

Williams 1962 | Elongate, parallel-sided Christiania, slightly longer than wide with a concavo-convex lateral profile, over two-fifths .as deep as long in adult shells, and an evenly convex, transverse profile with steeply sloping sides; ornamentation consisting solely of crowded, thickened, concentric growth-lines; ventral muscle-scar less than one-third of the length of the pedicle valve, dental lamellae short, narrowly divergent and masked by secondary shell deposit in adult shells; both pairs of dorsal septa long, high and straight, subparallel with the median ridge; adductor muscle-platforms well defined, almost two-fifths as long as the brachial valve and commonly contained anteriorly by a pair of high secondary ridges, convex anteriorly. |
