Taxonomy
Jurasciophila lepida was named by Li and Ren (2009). Its type specimen is CNU-DIP-NN2008586, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daohugou (CNU 2008 collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.
