Taxonomy
Anomalocystites was named by Hall (1858) [Sepkoski's age data: D Gedi-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Anomalocystites cornutus. It is the type genus of Anomalocystitinae.

It was assigned to Anomalocystitinae by Parsley (1991); and to Mitrata by Sepkoski (2002).
