Orthis expansa

Taxonomy
Orthis expansa was named by de Sowerby and Murchison (1839) [de Sowerby in de Sowerby and Murchison 1839 = 1968 Macrocoelia sp. Diggens and Romano, p.47, pl. 5, fig. h. Lectotype selected and reillustrated by Williams (1963, p. 457, pl. 14, fig. 2]. Its type specimen is GSM Geol. Soc. Coll. 6863, a valve (a ventral internal mould), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Strophomena expansa by Davidson (1871); it was recombined as Rafinesquina expansa by Reed (1917); it was recombined as Macrocoelia expansa by Williams (1963); it was recombined as Colaptomena expansa by Cocks (2008), Cocks (2010) and Villas et al. (2015).
