Enoploura was named by Wetherby (1879) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-m O Ashg-m Sepkoski's reference number: 937]. It is not extant. Its type is Enoploura balanoides. It is the type genus of Enoplourinae.
It was assigned to Anomalocystitidae by Parsley (1981); to Enoplourinae by Parsley (1991); and to Mitrata by Sepkoski (2002).
