Rhynchotreta ardmillanensis was named by Reed (1917) [Davidson in Reed 1917 = Rhynchonella cuneata, Dalman ?, Davidson 1883. (pars), Man. Brit. Foss. Brack., vol. v, Silur. Suppl., p. 152, pi. x, figs. 9, 9a, 96, non fig. 10 (non Rh. cuneata, Davidson, op. tit., vol. iii, p. 164, pl. xxi, figs. 7-11). = ? 1883. Rhynchonella Weaverii, ibid., p. 158,, pi. x, fig. 24. Non 1868. Rhynchonella Weaveri, Davidson, op. nit., vol. iii, p. 185, pi. xxiv f. 14].

It was recombined as Rostricellula ardmillanensis by Williams (1962) and Candela and Harper (2014).

A. Williams 1962Acutely cuneiform, gently rounded anteriorly and equally biconvex Rostricellula with a steep anterior margin and a rectimarginate commissure; brachial valve over four-fifths as wide as long, each valve about one-third as deep as the maximum width of the shell; costae fine and sharp with a wavelength of just less than 0.7 mm. at 7.5 mm. anterior to the dorsal umbo, originating at just over 2 mm. from the umbo and commonly numbering 13 in brachial valves about 5 mm. long; dental lamellae subparallel and well developed, extending anteriorly for about one-fifth of the length of adult pedicle valves, dorsal median septum strong and over one-half as long as the brachial valve.
