Taxonomy
Oligorhynchia bifurcata was named by Cooper (1956) [= Oligorhynchia sp. Butts, Virginia Geol. Surv. Bull. 52, pi. 87, figs. 18, 19, 1942 = Camerella ? conybearei Reed 1917, p. 925, pl. xxii, figs. 23, 24, non figs. 19-22.]. Its type specimen is USNM 117138a, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

A. Williams 1962Subtriangular, biconvex Oligorhynchia wider than long with the maximum width attained at about 4.5 mm. from the umbo of the pedicle valve, which is more than one-quarter as deep as long; shell ornamented by angular eostae, including a median one, commonly bifurcating anteriorly, and a lateral pair in the brachial valve and 2 strong complementary pairs in the pedicle valve, the inner pair arising at the umbo and commonly flanking a weak costa developed antero-medianly.
