Peltocystis is a genus. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Peltocystidae.
It was assigned to Peltocystidae by Beaver et al. (1967) and Kolata et al. (1991); to Peltocystida by Lefebvre (2000); and to Mitrata by Sepkoski (2002).
