Cardioserra was named by Romanek (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife D Give-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Cardioserra minima.

It was assigned to Ophiocistioidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sollasinidae by Romanek (1984) and Reich and Haude (2004).
