Taxonomy
Rafinesquina subarachnoidea was named by Reed (1917) [= Strophomena corrugatella, Davidson 1870 (pars), Mon. Brit. Foss. Brack., vol. iii, pt. vii, pi. xli, fig. 12 (cet. excl.). = Strophomena corrugatella, Davidson 1883 (pars), ibid., vol. v, Silur, Suppl., p. 192, pi. xv, figs. 23, 24, 26 (non fig. 25)].

It was recombined as Palaeostrophomena subarachnoidea by Candela and Harper (2014).
