Amphitriodites was named by Deflandre-Rigaud (1962) [Sepkoski's age data: J Oxfo]. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Amphitriodites insignis.

It was assigned to Synaptellidae by Deflandre-Rigaud (1962); to Schlumbergeritidae by Frizzell and Exline (1966); and to Dendrochirotida by Sepkoski (2002).
