Taxonomy
Laodiscis melanis was named by Lin (1977). Its type specimen is NIGP 24361, an exoskeleton, and it is an impression. Its type locality is YHS 304, Shangyong, Mengla County, which is in a Paleocene/Eocene terrestrial siliciclastic in China. It is the type species of Laodiscis.
