Solopedatus was named by Mostler (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-u Sepkoski's reference number: 982]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Solopedatus parvus.

It was assigned to Priscopedatidae by Mostler (1971); and to Dendrochirotida by Sepkoski (2002).
