Spinopriscopedatus was named by Kozur and Sadeddin (1990) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo K Albi Sepkoski's reference number: 924]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon.

It was assigned to Dendrochirotida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Priscopedatidae by Kozur and Sadeddin (1990) and Al-Tamimi and Saqqa (2008).

H. Kozur and W. Sadeddin 1990Sieve-plates each with large central pore that is largely or totally covered by a robust conical stirrup with 4 feet. Between 2 and 13 small pores surround the central pore, but in some specimens these pores are quite missing. The outline of the sclerites is variable: triangular, cross-shaped, irregularly rectangular, pentagonal or quite irregular. Three to eight mostly long marginal spines are present. In very rare forms with strongly lobate outline only 1-2 spines can be observed
