Taxonomy
Craspedophyllia japonica was named by Stanley and Onoue (2015). Its type specimen is OMNH M348 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wasabi Valley, Locality 2, which is in a Carnian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in Japan.
