Taxonomy
Guembelastraea kanmerae was named by Stanley and Onoue (2015). Its type specimen is UMIP 14401 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is MO-06, Motoidani, Itsuki Area, which is in a Carnian/Norian marine volcaniclastic in Japan.
