Taxonomy
Synaptites was named by Deflandre and Deflandre-Rigaud (1948) [Sepkoski's age data: J Oxfo R Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Synapta eocena.

It was replaced with Synaptellus by Deflandre-Rigaud (1962).

It was assigned to Holothuroidea by Deflandre and Deflandre-Rigaud (1948); to Synaptidae by Deflandre-Rigaud (1949) and Deflandre-Rigaud (1952); to Synaptitidae by Frizzell and Exline (1966) and Henderson et al. (1992); and to Apodida by Sepkoski (2002).
