Taxonomy
Nautilus loricatus was named by Schluter (1876). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cymatoceras loricatus by Kummel (1956) and Wittler et al. (1999); it was recombined as Cymatoceras loricatum by Wilmsen and Esser (2004).
