Taxonomy
Orthis lunata was named by Sowerby (1839). It is the type species of Salopina.

It was recombined as Mimella rotunda by Mitchell (1977); it was recombined as Salopina lunata by Bassett and Cocks (1974), Jin and Chatterton (1997) and Rubel (2011).
