Taxonomy
Semperites was named by Mostler (1970) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-l Tr Nori-u Sepkoski's reference number: 982]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Semperites ungersteinensis. It is the type genus of Semperitidae.

It was assigned to Semperitidae by Mostler (1970) and Mostler (1971); and to Holothuroidea by Sepkoski (2002).
