Taxonomy
Cymatoceras karakaschi was named by Shimansky (1975). Its type specimen is PIN 1619/72, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Doshchan-Koksyrtau, Mangyshlak, which is in an Aptian marine horizon in Kazakhstan.
