Nautilus deslongchampsianus was named by d'Orbigny (1840).

It was recombined as Eurocymatoceras deslongchampsianum by Matsumoto (1983); it was recombined as Cymatoceras deslongchampsianum by Kummel (1956), Shimansky (1975), Wittler et al. (1999) and Machalski and Wilmsen (2015).
