Harpes dalecarlicus was named by Thorslund (1930). It is the type species of Thorslundops.
It was recombined as Thorslundops dalecarlicus by Pribyl and Vanek (1981) and Pribyl and Vanek (1986); it was recombined as Hibbertia dalecarlicus by Ebach and McNamara (2002).
