Taxonomy
Lepidactis was named by Spencer (1918) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl]. It is the type genus of Lepidactinidae.

It was assigned to Lepidactinidae by Spencer (1918); to Lepidactininae by Spencer and Wright (1966); to Pustulosida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lepidasteridae by Owen (1965) and Herringshaw et al. (2007).

L. G. Herringshaw et al. 2007Five-rayed lepidasterids with small central disc. Madreporite of curved oblong shape with anastomosing ornament. Proximal inferomarginals bulbous; interradius with large rhomboid axillary almost enclosed by square inferomarginals. Aboral surface of rays with hexagonal primary carinals and slightly larger, square to hexagonal superomarginals, separated proximally by small minor carinals.
