Taxonomy
Siluraster was named by Jaekel (1903) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-m]. It is not extant. Its type is Siluraster perfectus.
It was assigned to Mesopalaeasterinae by Owen (1965); to Silurasterinae by Spencer and Wright (1966); to Pustulosida by Sepkoski (2002); to Hudsonasteridae by Schuchert (1915), Dean Shackleton (2005) and Herringshaw et al. (2007); and to Palasterinidae by Blake (2018).
