Ammonites lafresnayanus was named by d'Orbigny (1841) [DISTRIBUTION: Maastrichtian; Europe.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Hoplitoplacenticeras lasfresnayanum by Kennedy (1986); it was recombined as Hoplitoplacenticeras (Lemfoerdiceras) lafresnayanus by Kennedy (1986).
