Taxonomy
Leiorhynchus multicosta was named by Hall (1860).

It was synonymized subjectively with Rhynchonella (Leiorhynchus) laura by Walcott (1884); it was recombined as Eumetabolotoechia multicosta by Brett and Baird (1994); it was recombined as Eumetabolotoechia multicostata by Boyer and Droser (2007); it was recombined as Eumetabolotoechia multicostatum by Zambito (2008); it was recombined as Eumetabolotoechia multicostum by Ivany et al. (2009).
