Germanasterias was named by Blake (1990) [Sepkoski's age data: J Hett-u Sepkoski's reference number: 911]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Forcipulatida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Asteriidae by Blake (1990) and Gale (2011).

Blake 1990 | Asteriid with body wall ossicular rows consisting of well defined carinal series, one row of primary laterals (and associated small ossicles) on each side of carinals, then two marginal and three actinal rows. Abactinals digitate, arranged in regular transverse and longitudinal rows and separate by relatively large papularia. Ambulacra compressed, podial pores quadriserial, strongly offset; first 4 or possible 5 adambulacrals forming adoral carinae; adambulacra with transverse series of 4 spines; large uncrossed clam-shaped pedicellariae present on dorsal surface only; dorsal surface with numerous stout spines, especially on disk and carinal series. |
