Taxonomy
Hamites largesulcatus was named by Forbes (1846). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pondicherry, which is in a Maastrichtian marine sandstone/claystone in the Valudavur Formation of India.

It was recombined as Neohamites largesulcatus by Brunnschweiler (1966); it was recombined as Diplomoceras largesulcatum by Summesberger (1979); it was recombined as Glyptoxoceras largesulcatum by Kennedy and Henderson (1992) and Küchler and Odin (2001).
