Taxonomy
Capulus haliotis was named by de Sowerby and Murchison (1839) [Acroculia haliotis de Sowerby in Murchison 1839]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Proetus concinnus-Warburgella stokesii Assemblage, Much Wenlock Limestone, which is in a Homerian marine grainstone/lime mudstone in the Much Wenlock Limestone Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Platyceras haliotis by Wagner (2023).
