Taxonomy
Nautilus mikado was named by Krenkel (1910). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Niongala (Fraas collection), which is in an Aptian marine shale in Tanzania.

It was recombined as Cymatoceras mikado by Kummel (1956) and Matsumoto et al. (1984).
