Taxonomy
Nautilus sharpei was named by Schluter (1876).

It was recombined as Eutrephoceras sharpei by Wittler et al. (1999); it was recombined as Cymatoceras sharpei by Kummel (1956), Matsumoto et al. (1984) and Wittler et al. (1999).
