Taxonomy
Nautilus trautscholdi was named by Waagen (1879). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Yauza River, Moscow, which is in a Gzhelian marine horizon in the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Tainoceras trautscholdi by Shimanskiy (1967).
