Pleuronautilus gregarius
Taxonomy
Metacoceras gregarium was named by Miller (1945). Its type specimen is USNM 111614 and is a cast. Its type locality is USNM702a, Split Tank, Glass Mountains, which is in a Kungurian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Cathedral Mountain Formation of Texas.
It was recombined as Foordiceras gregarium by Miller and Youngquist (1949); it was recombined as Pseudofoordiceras gregarium by Ruzhentsev and Shimanskiy (1954); it was recombined as Pleuronautilus gregarius by Shimanskiy (1967) and Ehiro (2022).
