Taxonomy
Nautilus hesperis was named by Eichwald (1860). Its type specimen is LGU 18/130, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cherepet' River, which is in a Mississippian marine horizon in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Edaphoceras hesperis by Shimanskiy (1967).
