Taxonomy
Nautilus regulus was named by Eichwald (1857). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Aleksin region, Oka River, which is in a Visean marine horizon in the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Lophoceras regulus by Shimanskiy (1967).
