Taxonomy
Glyphioceras verneuili was named by Janischewsky (1900). Its type specimen is PIN 455/42625, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Verneuilites.

It was recombined as Verneuilites verneuili by Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1978).
