Taxonomy
Retites ortivus was named by Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1978). Its type specimen is PIN 455/46526, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chumaza River, Sample 2, Southern Urals, Bashkortostan, which is in a Kinderscoutian offshore shelf limestone in the Russian Federation.
