Liroceras praelunense was named by Shimanskiy (1967). Its type specimen is PIN 1397/7, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kirpich-Kyrta, Podcherem river, which is in a Chadian/Arundian marine horizon in the Russian Federation.
