Miospondylus was named by Gregory (1897) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Ophiura rhenana.
It was assigned to Eoluidiidae by Schuchert (1915); to Hallasteridae by Spencer (1925) and Lehmann (1957); to Lapworthuridae by Owen (1965) and Spencer and Wright (1966); and to Oegophiurida by Sepkoski (2002).
