Amphitryon murchisonii was named by Hawle and Corda (1847). It is the type species of Amphitryon.

Synonyms
  • Caphyra radians was named by Barrande (1846).

    It was recombined as Remopleurides radians by Barrande (1852); it was recombined as Amphitryon radians by Kielan (1960); it was synonymized subjectively with Amphitryon murchisonii by Nikolaisen (1983).
