Ophiacantha (Ophioglyphoida) was named by Chapman (1934). It is not extant. Its type is Ophiacantha (Ophioglyphoida) fosteri.

It was reranked as Ophioglyphoida by Spencer and Wright (1966) and Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Ophiacantha by Chapman (1934); to Ophiacanthidae by Spencer and Wright (1966); and to Ophiurida by Sepkoski (2002).
