Gazacrinus was named by Miller (1892) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl-l S Ludl]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Gazacrinidae.

It was assigned to Gazacrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Diplobathrida by Sepkoski (2002).
