Gastrioceras roemeri was named by Schmidt (1929). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rupe del Passo di Burgio, calcare compatto, Sosio, which is in a Wordian carbonate limestone in Italy.
It was recombined as Glaphyrites roemeri by Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1971).
