Taxonomy
Trichinocrinus was named by Moore and Laudon (1943). Its type is Trichinocrinus terranovicus.

It was assigned to Rhodocrinitidae by Ausich et al. (1998) and Ausich (1998); and to Diplobathrida by Sepkoski (2002).
