Glyphioceras incisum was named by Hyatt (1893).

It was recombined as Nuculoceras incisum by Plummer and Scott (1937); it was recombined as Cravenoceras incisum by Gordon (1960); it was recombined as Stenoglaphyrites incisus by Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1971).
