Lyrogoniatites utahensis was named by Miller et al. (1952).
It was synonymized subjectively with Neoglyphioceras cloudi by Gordon (1964); it was recombined as Neoglyphioceras utahense by Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1971).
