Abacocrinus was named by Angelin (1878) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl]. It is not extant. Its type is Actinocrinites tesseracontadactylus. It is the type genus of Abacocrinidae.
It was assigned to Monobathrida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Abacocrinidae by Ausich and Copper (2010).
