Acacocrinus was named by Wachsmuth and Springer (1897) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-m D Give Sepkoski's reference number: 703]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Monobathrida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Periechocrinidae by Ausich et al. (2012).
